Besides this you can also use following two plugins:-
1. Lazy Load Plugin
What it do is it delays the loading of images in long web pages.

2. WP Smush.it
WP Smush.it reduces the image file size. Thus reduce the loading time.
Whenever you add a new image to your blog posts, it will automatically run through Smush.it.

If you can, use Varnish but you should have a VPS a dedicated or talk with your hosting.

Use a cache plugin (W3 Total Cache or Super Cache) + CDN (Amazon S3, Rackspace Cloud Files or Max CDN).
CSS and JS concatenation, you have a lot of requests.
