Wordpress Left Nevigation Menu WordPress

  • REFUNDED

I want to add the dynamic functionality of my left navigational menu to be able to open/close when viewing the sub-menus. Currently the sub-menu attached to the left main nav menu just stays open. This theme is using the wordpress "appearance" "menu" section.

Looks like you need a custom jQuery solution.
I am available for hire at USD $30 per hour.
If you would like to hire me, please send me an email to [email protected]

Thanks.

Hi,

Just realized that you are not looking to hire anyone, base on the fact that you are asking for a refund for a previously asked question.

If you want experts here to answer your question directly on WP Questions with a working solution,
please post a straight forward question, with codes, theme details, such as where to get that theme if it is free, etc. Posting a "general" question without details is not going to get you anywhere.

<blockquote>This theme is using the wordpress "appearance" "menu" section.</blockquote>

Although your theme is using a "standard" WordPress Menu, it is never really standard.
Please look at this function wp_nav_menu that is producing that "standard" WordPress Menu.
http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_nav_menu
There is many parameters to this function, so as to make it unique and not "standard".
We will never know the actual "code" that produces it.

So please at least post the menu codes, the css codes if any and the UI that you want, a link to your live mock up blog that is using this theme so that experts can have a more clear impression and please post in as much detail as possible, so that experts here may answer it correctly.

So please post a detail question, instead of a "development" question, or you will never get the right solution you want. If you do not have any idea what codes to post here, than you should hire someone to work for you.

Lastly, experts here may still choose not to answer it, if they think that it is priced too low for them to work on it. But of course, there are always "experts" who try their luck on every question.

For your information, you can still edit your question, so please do it.

Thanks.
Denzel

Hello,

I appreciate your reply but it is somewhat in error. I will never post a "live" link to my site on this open forum (you should know this is if you are a web developer). You are right that I need to have a simple jquery custom feature added. This is already a jquery menu to begin with with custom css. I understand coding and programming very well, but I am just starting out in wordpress. Also, I would never, as someone who does outsource this work, pay an hourly rate, period. I will only work with someone who offers a fixed price as this is a more fair practice in the development nowadays, I also do the same. I did look at your site and you said that under 5 hours is $45, which is kind of misleading. You know as well as I know (i hope you would know) this is at most 30 minute job for an experienced wordpress developer, hence the $15 which is half of your hourly rate, so that is right on target. Also, since you referred to my first posting, I did not reply to your message because, quite frankly, it was incoherent and quite lame, no offense and was very misleading, as you quoted it to be a "complex" job, of course, it was not, it just required a few lines of code of the homepage.php files to be changed. So, right up front, I did not trust your judgment, as I was the one who coded it myself. I just am swamped with so many projects at the moment, that it would be nice to work with someone who is honest and can get work done with not (deep) detail, so I don't have to babysit them as it appears it is what you would require. I am not trying to be rude, but I really think you are trying to take advantage of newbies here. This forum is for quick and straightforward answers to wordpress questions and this is not a freelance forum as you seem you think you are at by offering your hourly services! I am really surprised you are still around this forum that you are clearly misleading, taking advantage, to a degree incompetent (based on your answer to my first question)...It always surprises me of the people, like yourself calling yourself wordpress developers and your own website is just a cookie cutter website theme that another company developed??? I am not interested in your advise or services. I would like to work with a pro! Sorry..

Hi,

This is my reply to you and in a very polite manner.

<blockquote>I will never post a "live" link to my site on this open forum (you should know this is if you are a web developer).</blockquote>

I said a link to a live mock up blog, there is even nothing wrong to post a link to a live blog.
I am not asking you to post your login credentials or ftp credentials. Is it a security risk for us to just view your blog? Isn't a blog for viewing? Is your blog created only for you to view?
Almost everyone posts a link to their blog here, so that we can view the html and css source code.

I don't think there is any security risk here, every browser can view source.

</blockquote>

You just put your jQuery code in the <head> of your template, there is nothing special for WordPress, you can link the jQuery file in using wp_enqueue_script
http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_enqueue_script

If you understanding programming very well, you will understand this after reading it.

<blockquote>

</blockquote>

You just need to reply this and let me know you prefer a fix price or not to reply at all.

<blockquote>

I offer you $30 per hour work here, I never did ask you to look at my site for quotation.
If I took 30 minute to complete your job, of course I would charge you $15.
Or should I quote you by the minute and not by hour?

As to what I posted on my own site, that was to ward off people who are looking for a bargain, from emailing me and asking for quotation, when they are not even willing to pay for my hourly rate.

If you are so sure that it will take only 30 minutes and you claim that you know programming very well, why don't you do it yourself? What has an experience WordPress developer got to do with this?
If i am an experience jQuery developer I might know it will take me 30 minutes?!?! WordPress is mostly PHP.

You have every right not to agree with my judgement. And since you keep on stressing you know how to do it yourself with only a few lines and just too busy to do it, how come you have the time to write this whole big chuck of reply, just to scold me and defame me?

Is there a need to think so highly of yourself, that you have to insult me by saying I am dishonest and lame and that you need to baby sit me? By saying "no offend", does it give you the right to insult me?

<blockquote>
I am not trying to be rude, but I really think you are trying to take advantage of newbies here. This forum is for quick and straightforward answers to wordpress questions and this is not a freelance forum as you seem you think you are at by offering your hourly services!

You did not try to be rude, you are rude by insulting me when you called me dishonest, lame, and needs babysitting.

I am not trying to take advantage of a newbie, I am not trying to take advantage of anyone.
And you are not a newbie, you keep on stressing that you know programming well, so you are the one being incoherent here.

You have the right to offer a fix rate, I had my right to offer a $30 per hour rate.
Mark Jaquith, the lead developer of WordPress charges $250 per hour.
You can see it here http://coveredwebservices.com/rates/

Mark has every right to charge $250 per hour, I have every right to charge $30 per hour.
If you don't agree, you don't need to hire me, no need for this insult.

You said this is a straight forward forum, I am glad you know, so why don't you post a straight forward question? Do you seriously think your question is straight forward, if so are you saying that all experts here are not qualified? Since you said "I would like a refund for this question as the none of the answers even came close to working... "

<blockquote>
this is not a freelance forum as you seem you think you are at by offering your hourly services!
</blockquote>

For your information, there used to be a job post column, it was not being used often, so the owner removed it. I have every right to offer my service here, you have every right not to accept my offer.

<blockquote>
I am really surprised you are still around this forum that you are clearly misleading, taking advantage, to a degree incompetent (based on your answer to my first question)...
</blockquote>

This is clearly an insult and defame. If you did notice that I am the top earner on this site. Are you trying to say that all other experts here are miss leading, taking advantage and maybe incompetent? Since they earn less than me here, does it make them more miss leading? Since I am the top earner, the most misleading one?

<strong>
Look at this question. http://wpquestions.com/question/show/id/2303
It is a $5 question, and the question is straight forward. I gave a straight forward answer by providing the code there. Am I misleading? Take advantage? Incompetent?
Did I offer my hourly rate service for this straight forward question? Is $5 less than what you offer? so am I trying to take advantage here? Isn't he a "newbie" like you?

</blockquote>

What should I call myself if not a WordPress Developer? If there is a certification test for me to take it, I will gladly do it!

<strong>What proof do you have that my web site theme is done by another company?!
Everything except the jQuery slider is done by me. The jQuery slider is open source, so I can use it on my site.

Again, you are clearly defaming me here.
Too bad I cannot sue you for defamation, as we are not in the same country!
</strong>

<blockquote>
I am not interested in your advise or services. I would like to work with a pro! Sorry..
</blockquote>

I am a professional, not a "pro". You have every right to ignore my advise or services, but you have no right to malign or defame me here. I have every right to post what I want here, you cannot stop me, you can only ignore me.

If you are unhappy with my reply, you have every right to say so, but you have no right to call me dishonest, misleading... and all that insult and defamation.

Hi Eric,

<strong>More reasons to proof that you are defaming me.</strong>

<strong>Referring to your previous question here, http://wpquestions.com/question/show/id/2302
I had very good reasons to say that your theme was Karma theme and not one that you coded yourself.
</strong>

This is your uploaded attachment for your question.
http://wpquestions.com/uploads/edrrggls_phpQ2XCDj.PNG

This is the demo for Karma Theme, which is a super hot theme on themeforest.net
http://themes.truethemes.net/Karma/pages/left-nav

Karma Theme comes with twenty color variation, you just switched the color variation and uploaded a logo. Why did you claim that you coded it?

If you really coded it, is it a bit of coincident that your design is 99% the same as Karma Theme,
except the Logo?

<blockquote>
it just required a few lines of code of the homepage.php files to be changed.
</blockquote>

There was never a homepage.php in WordPress Template Hierarchy,
http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Hierarchy
It should be home.php and not homepage.php! If you coded it you should know!
and I believe homepage.php is not a typo error made by you.

After offering you a quote on your question, I requested a copy of the Karma theme from the Theme Author, and after searching the theme file codes, I found the location of the left navigation menu.
For your information, the actual file for the left navigation is in subnav-left.php of the karma theme.
And this file was included by template_leftnav.php, which was a template file of Karma theme.
There was no home.php at all in the theme files, the theme was using index.php

I had never worked on Karma Theme templates or the left navigation menu before.
I only remember that I had just helped the Theme Author on doing some shortcodes and image issues, which is why I cannot tell you why the author chooses to code the left navigation menu this way. I never said it was "complex", I mean it could not be so simple and there must be a reason why the Theme Author does it this way.

I quoted you a fixed price of $40 and not an hourly rate, which is 1 hour plus if you convert to my $30 per hour rate. Because for that issue, I thought I just needed some time to find the menu code and alter it. Since you did not give any code requirements, I had to make some "leeway" in my fix quote, so that I do not make a "loss", if you come up with requirements along the way, or I encounter problems along the way.

<strong>
Seems like you really like to use themeforest theme and say that you designed it.
This is the themeforest theme that you are using for your company website.
http://themeforest.net/item/ultra-web-studio-blog-portfolio-wordpress-theme/full_screen_preview/121611
Unless you own SoftWebMedia, you cannot say you designed it.

I had taken two screenshots of your web site http://www.lucid-web-crew.com/
So that in case you decided to switch your theme, I still have evidence to back my claim.

I am attaching the first screenshot for all to see, take note of the url.
and in the second screenshot which I will attach afterwards will show on footer that says website designed by lucid web crew.
