Problem with WP Widgets not loading WordPress

  • SOLVED

Hi People,

I can't remember ever having this issue although Ive faced many! But what's happening is Im adding say a "text" widget to my footer area, it loads up as it should and then disappears and show just delete and close option, NOT allowing me to enter anything.

Ive added an image so you can see what happens to the widget.

Can someone help with this issue??

Thanks in advance.

Francisco Javier Carazo Gil answers:

Carl,

Set WP_DEBUG to true this is strange and there should be some bug.

Carl Brook comments:

Thanks for jumping in Francisco!

Sorry, is wp_debug in the config file??

Thanks again

Carl Brook comments:

MY BAD! I got it, OK I set it to true!

Francisco Javier Carazo Gil comments:

Any message in widgets page?

Carl Brook comments:

NOPE! No message in admin widgets page :(

Carl Brook comments:

Ive deactivated all plugins as test as well and still the same! CONFUSED.COM...never seen this happen before so am stumped!

Francisco Javier Carazo Gil comments:

What about your theme? Can you change it to another one to test.

Carl Brook comments:

Could it be the theme, I've been working on the site for ages now and everything has been fine ???

Francisco Javier Carazo Gil comments:

If you have installed/updated something, maybe. Maybe something has overwritten the WP Widget Text.

Carl Brook comments:

Its happening on all widgets though! text etc etc!

Francisco Javier Carazo Gil comments:

Have you just upgraded WordPress core?

Francisco Javier Carazo Gil comments:

Could you check in widgets page if there is any JavaScript error?

Carl Brook comments:

OK, Just tested a new theme and it seemed to work well...SO it seems to be the theme....What can I do to fix this Francisco??

Thanks for your help!

Francisco Javier Carazo Gil comments:

Could you check the JavaScript errors? It can be the problem and when we know the problem we can give a solution.

Carl Brook comments:

Whats the best way to check for JS errors in chrome??

Carl Brook comments:

I opened the JS console but there dont appear to be any errors! Unless im looking in the wrong place.

Francisco Javier Carazo Gil comments:

You have to open the JS console and reload this page exactly (the one who fails in the theme who fails).

Carl Brook comments:

OK, just inastalled JS error detection add on to chrome and nothing is showing up!

Carl Brook comments:

Yep, not throwing any errors out here either using the console! :(

Carl Brook comments:

The theme is using this to call the side bars if this helps
<?php if ( !function_exists('dynamic_sidebar') || !dynamic_sidebar('Footer') ) : ?>

Thanks for help Francisco! I appreciate it.

Francisco Javier Carazo Gil comments:

No, the problem is not from this, this is front-end.

It should be any problem but I don't know where. I should look for it in code but I cannot for this quantity. If you want send me PM and we talk.

Carl Brook comments:

Hi Francisco,

It's ok I have resolved this issue! There were some widget code left over from an update which I removed, then it works :)

You can have this money for your help, I appreciate that.
