I'm trying to show a list of galleries (in an album) with the thumbnails from each individual gallery showing on the page also.
Ideally I need an 'album-caption' template/shortcode, although this doesn't exist and can't find anything similar. Have tried to create this, but the mixture of php and jquery is too much to get my head around. Basically just need an album page with the images displayed as thumbnails, not as a slideshow.
Seems like this is really simple, as all of the required stuff is there, just not in the same template yet! Is it just a case of merging the 2 templates together? And if so, how can this be done without breaking the way the page renders?
Any ideas? Thanks, much appreciated!

You can create another kind of gallery, with the same images but presenting in thumbnails.
In NextGen admin you have it, change the gallery and change the shortcode that is provided for you.
Francisco Javier Carazo Gil comments:
[ gallery=x ] => [ nggallery id=x ]
[ album=x,compact ] => [ album id=x template=compact ]
[ singlepic=x ] => [ singlepic id=x w=width h=height ]
[ imagebrowser=x ] => [ imagebrowser id=x ]
[ tags=abc,def,… ] => [ nggtags gallery=abc,def,… ]
[ albumtags=abc,def,… ] => [ nggtags album=abc,def,… ]
Shortcodes for NextGen.

The shortcode just doesn't exist though as far as I'm aware

You alway could use this:
echo do_shortcode('[shortcode option1="value1" option2="value2"]');
To call a shortcode into a template outside the loop.
