I have a project I am starting that has the following requirements and I wanted to get some advice on the best way to do this.
A multi-author blog where each category resides on it's own subdomain. Each category/subdomain needs to use exactly the same theme and allow all the same authors to submit content.
On the main site, example: domain.com needs to show blog posts from all categories, then the individual sites such as sports.domain.com should show only content for that category.
The main thing is that I dont want the authors to have to have separate accounts on each site.
Is this best done using the Wp multisite feature? Will each site share the same theme and plugins without having to customize it for each new category?

thanks. what about authors. Will user accounts created on the main domain.com site have posting rights to all the category sites? if not is there a plugin that can link them all together?
