So, I have the Karma theme, but think it lacks the shortcode/content layout options I prefer. I found the Avenue theme over at TF and like the layout/content shortcode setup.
I am fairly new to the Wordpress framework, I used to use VBulletin. So, obviously I am trying to get a grasp on how everything interacts in WP.
Here is what I was thinking.
I like everything about Karma as far as the header, footer background and theme options go.
Avenue has 90% of the main content block layout and shortcode functionality I want.
Whats the best way to go about integrating the best of both these themes?
Also, how extensive is it to change a "category" page layout to look like the attached image below.
Francisco Javier Carazo Gil answers:
Hi Nimo,
The WordPress theme hierarchy is really easy to understand: http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Hierarchy.
You will have to modify:
* Karma: header.php, footer.php, background (css) and theme options go (look at functions.php)
* Avenue: index.php, single.php and look at functions.php to integrate shortcodes.
Francisco Javier Carazo Gil comments:
Shortcodes are defined in functions.php with add_shortcode function.

Wow! That was quick.
At this point I am looking to hire someone to do these task and a list of others. I really want to focus on content and getting my site launched. I don't want to do much coding unless its simple fixes.
Can I hire people from here? If so, How do I get quoted for pricing?
Thanks,
Francisco
