I'm looking for a good hosting environment for streaming videos like for example vimeo. Anyone who knows a good one that doesn't cost a fortune per year?
What are your specific needs ? VoD, pay per download, other ?
Something like vimeo pro, no ads, custom player and mobile ready, HD
You can try wistia http://wistia.com/free/new?channel=wpmudev
They have a free offer for starting out and trying
Unlimited streaming hopefully.. hehe..
Don't think you can have unlimited bandwidth without paying, and Vimeo Pro still looks like the cheapest alternative for the value you get.
Other providers either have a bandwidth limit, or cost more by month than Vimeo Pro.
I understand. I'm maybe doing some online classes and I don't want that the bandwidth is cut suddenly. So of course I can pay for the service. But I want to find the right service, instead of paying and then understand that is doesn't work out. No customer would like that..
Yes of course. I had to do the same research for a client some time ago, and we settled on Vimeo Pro, it was the best fit for the project, with VoD, pay per download and pretty big videos (movies/documentaries).
Not sure you will get more answer by extending the question every time. We all gave our advices.
IMO, go for Vimeo Pro. You can have your money back if you ask for a refund in the 30 first days, which should be enough to test the service.
Yes, Remy. I have extended the question only for setup the prize.
Ian Lincicome answers:
Sounds like Brightcove might work for you: https://www.brightcove.com/en/online-video-platform/live-streaming. You definitely need a reliable service if you're doing online classes.
Go for Vimeo Pro/Plus. These are sophisticated servers for that specific purpose.
