IE 7/8 Page Rendering & CSS WordPress

My site www.ssmd.com has 2 problems in IE 7 & 8. The first issue is that is a toggle button (up & down) showing on the home slider that I have hidden in CSS but still shows. The other issue is that there is a seemingly long pause when rendering in these browsers that shows the page with a skewed look but then comes "back together" once it is fully loaded.

Any help is appreciated, I will be glad to send you FTP/Wordpress login info. for further troubleshooting.

Or just add the following style to the end of your custom.css

.controls-container .flex-direction-nav { display: none; }
