Excerpt widgets same settings different outcome issue WordPress

Hi Guys
In a sidebar on this site i have add two Catalyst Excerpt widgets one to display the last two posts in the News category and the other to display the last two posts in the Events category. I have set both widgets up with the same settings yet the Events widget is not taking on the word limit setting.

I've set the word limit in the core options>excerpts>Universal Excerpt Options to 25 which is working well for the news widget but not the events widget as you can see
Anyone got any ideas what I may have done wrong?

Make sure that the excerpt field is not empty.

Ah yes the excerpt field under the post editor had content in that i did not realise. I have moved that to the actual post and all is well. Thank you.

Where is the content for the Events excerpt coming from? Can't see it on the events page. Are you filling the excerpt manually? Also if I am not wrong, each Catalyst excerpt widget has its own word limit setting too. Try setting it from there?
