This doesn't answer this particular question but I see that you're not wanting to use something like Facebook Like as it is pulling the wrong image. There is actually a plug-in that dictates which image Facebook Like pulls for any post:

Just in case you find it easier to switch...
Also, just a note with this plug-in, Facebook will update the thumbnail for all the pages within 24hrs of activating it. It's not an instant thing, they have to re-scan your content.

Why are you calling the php streight? it will not get the function without being called from wordpress. Just go to fbshare in settings in your dashboard panel and configure it how and where you want it.

The error is because you should not use the plugin as http://newyorkinspiration.com/wp-content/plugins/facebook-fb-share-wordpress-plugin/fbshare.php.
This it not how it is designed to work.

the problem for me is that I have been using this plugin for a long time and it has been working fine but suddenly the counts is not visible. That is my main problem.
I don´t want any other fp plugin because all of them take the images from the sidebar, not from the blog post.
The fb like button that is under the post is an example of this.
The FB share is above the post and I want to keep that one...
