Custom Header.PHP for custom Page Template WordPress

I have developed a custom page template for the DK theme.

I am needing a custom header.php made, copied form the existing one, that removes the menu items, the logo etc. It needs to simply generate a page with a fullscreen slideshow, as seen here.

I got the footer working, by a simple include, but the header.php keeps eluding me.

Hi, I think I may be having a caching issue that is not allowing me to see the results of the solutions.

header-custom.php

in your template file call this as

<?php get_header('custom'); ?>

in place of

Hey buddy,

Create a new file in your theme directory like this.

wp-content/themes/header-customname.php

Within the new page template you have created call the header like this.


<?php get_header('customname.php'); ?>


Within header-customname.php place whatever code you need for the template.

That's all there is to it really.

Simply remove the bothersome mark-up (facebook icons etc) and you should be ready to rumble in the.... internet. :p

Hi tried this, no luck. I put a new title in the headersplash.php so I could see if it was updating. No Luck.

Look at it, but I think that this is the logo and menu div. You can comment it and if this is not the result, rollback with no problem.

You don't need to include<head> elements more than once in theme.

One update, you don't need to include anything within if and elseif it you need that to be empty, but that depends on your requirements (you should provide current code of your header.php)

Just Me answers:

To see refreshed results, try using another browser/computer.
Pressing Shift while refreshing also forces the browser to reload the file from the server instead of from the cache.
