Creating a Wordpress website that's based on a time-line feature, grabbing articles from various websites WordPress

Hello. I would simply like to create a website where I take articles from other websites and arrange them in a more organized time-line fashion.
Take a visual snippet (or not) of the article, maybe a couple of it's starting sentences.
To continue reading, click on that snippet and it should redirect to the article's URL.

QUESTIONS:
- Do the previous themes assume your're writing your own content to generate the time-line and thus I would be unable to apply it on other peoples content?

Now I'm in the process of learning HTML/CSS/JAVASCRIPT/PYTHON & BOOTSTRAP.
If there's a way to do this as simple and as straight forward as possible so that I can do everything on my own without relying on a coder for maintaining my website, that would be awesome. Bootstrap seems very nice, I have no idea though.
