Control GALLERY in wpfolio theme WordPress

I am using wpfolio as my theme. I want the images in my gallery to be CENTERED!

I have tried to use the toolbar to align the gallery, I have also put in the code align="center" within the code. Neither work. I have looked into the media settings to see if there is something there. I have tried to set the images in the gallery to the radio button center. Please help!

And as far as images go- do the sizes of each image have to be the same in the gallery?

go to line no. 534 of style.css

.gallery-item {
float: left;
margin-top: 10px;
text-align: center;
width: 33%;
}

and replace it with

.gallery-item {

margin-top: 10px;
text-align: center;

}

The only problem with this solution is that now ALL of my galleries are single columned and centered. I want each gallery to be centered, no matter how many columns there are.
