Changes to nav menu and widgets not changing WordPress

I have made changes to my category menu but they aren't showing up on my website.

I stupidly added text to the category description which was a bbp forum short-code, I have now removed the short-code but it is still showing there.

Also the Forum sidebar widget links are not showing correctly, I put the wrong URL in, and the 'register' link now goes to the 'login' page and not the register page as it should. I have changed the URL in the widget but it still links to the old URL.

I did have WP Cache installed but now I have uninstalled this.

I am pretty sure the cache needs clearing somehow, and that it is an easy fix but I have no idea how to do this.

Thanks

Jon

UPDATE: This is a real problem now, new categories are not appearing. I can't do anything now.

Hi.
As I see your problem comes from the cache. Try to activate the cache plugin, and then delete cache files from the plugin options page. This should fix your problem.
Good luck!

Which cache plugin you are using?

jacksonja1 comments:

I was using wp super cache, but I deleted it.

I re-installed it and cleared cache then deleted it again. :-)

Now I have no cache plugin installed.

Do you think it could be one of the other plugins caching files?

Jon

Are you using more than one cache plugin?
Can you post your website link to have a look?

jacksonja1 comments:

My website link is safet ytopic s.co.uk (delete spaces)

I have had two caching plugins installed, but they are now deleted.

I have now deleted the categories, but the problem still exists.

It won't even display new categories added to my download page.

Jon

Try to connect to your website using FTP, and browse to wp-content folder, look there any folder like "cache" and delete them. You may find also php files related to cache plugins, delete them too.

It seems that it is not an issue of caching.

It must be something else and it is hard to define problem without access to your website.

Can you provide admin access of your website?

To uninstall W3 total cache plugin, you need to follow following procedure:

1. First delete all cache and deactivate the W3 total cache plugin.
2. rename W3 total Cache plugin from Wp-content/plugins folder
3. comment this line from Wp-config file (define(‘WP_CACHE’, true) )
4. rename advanced-cache.php, db.php, wp-total-cache-config.php
5. rename entire w3tc folder from wp-content folder.
6. Check .htaccess file and if you see any code added by w3 total cache plugin, do remove it.
