Add loading animation to plugin WordPress

The following plugin allows users to enter data into the page, and when they hit "submit", that form data is submitted via AJAX and displays some text on the page.

<strong>I need an animated GIF to appear whilst the AJAX request is being processed.</strong>

Please provide a working version which adds an animated gif while the AJAX request is taking place.
