Fix redirect issue with Register-Plus-Redux

The person who created Register-Plus-Redux is no longer working on the project and it's been pulled from the WordPress plugin site. Unfortunately, I'm using it for invitation codes and need to for the next 60 days while we transition customers..

The problem I'm having is I need it to auto log-in users after they register and then redirect to wherever I specify in the plugin settings page. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Zach,

Are you using a multisite version of WordPress?

    Regards,
    Gabriel

      Zach Shallbetter says:

      Nope just a regular install.

      Hi Zach,

Redirect is working fine for me with WordPress 3.2.1, the only issue is that the user must login.

Is it what you want to fix?

      Regards,
      Gabriel

      Zach Shallbetter says:

Exactly, I'd like for it to accept the user's entered password and then log them in automatically.

      Gabriel Reguly says:

Ok, I think I can code a good solution for it.

      Please bear with me.

      Zach Shallbetter says:

Totally, just let me know if I need to update the db or anything.

    • 08/19/11 3:34pm

      Gabriel Reguly says:

No, you will not need to update the db.

I am thinking of a new page wich will do the automatic log-in and then redirect to the page you want.

Would that be a good solution for you?

    • 08/19/11 3:39pm

      Zach Shallbetter says:

Doesn't matter as long as it smoothly redirects the user to the page that I specify in the Registration Redirect field.

      Hi,

I have changed my mind and did some changes to the plugin itself.

Also renamed it so a new version will not erase the changes.

Please find the new version here

Seems the plugin is still being developed, so I contacted the author to notify about the changes.

There is a new option to be enabled: Registration Redirect With Auto Login

      Please see attached image.

Hopefully this is exactly what you wanted.

      Regards,
      Gabriel

Gabriel, is it showing up in the menu for you?

    • 08/20/11 11:08pm

      Gabriel Reguly says:

      Hi Zach,

Yes, it does show in the menu.

Checked both with a regular WordPress install and with a multisite install.

Does it issues any error messages for you while installing?

      Regards,
      Gabriel

      Hi Zach,

I have tested with another install and it failed to show the settings page.

Again, please bear with me while I check the issue.

      Hi Zach,

Sorry about this, the server had a wrong file.

Please find the correct version here

Works brilliantly Gabriel. I need to test just a bit more to make sure everything works correctly but it looks good so far. Is your intention to take over this project?

    • 08/21/11 10:41am

      Gabriel Reguly says:

      Hi Zach,

Glad to hear that it works.

Please take your time to play with it, only remember to vote before this question expires.

Regarding taking over the project, as I said before, radiok has declared that the project is still evolving and I have left a message to him about the new feature and offering to add the changes to the original plugin.

If the plugin development does stop and we can't communicate with radiok, my code is a fork and we can use it as a new plugin.

      Regards,
      Gabriel

      Zach Shallbetter says:

Not sure if you're concerned about this bit I'm receiving this message from another plugin.

"SB Welcome Email Editor can not function because another plugin is conflicting. Please disable other plugins until this message disappears to fix the problem."

    • 08/21/11 10:40pm

      Gabriel Reguly says:

      Hi Zach,

That is because this other plugin is also trying to use the function wp_new_user_notification().

Why not use the option for custom messages from register-plus-redux itself?

      Regards,
      Gabriel

    • 08/21/11 10:43pm

      Gabriel Reguly says:

      Hi Zach,

You can find the option under 'New User Message Settings' tab.

Seems to me that it does the same job.

      Regards,
      Gabriel

No problem just wanted to let you know there was a conflict. I disabled it anyway.
