Parent & Child hierarchical listing with get_term_link ?

  • SOLVED

Hi, I'm trying display the post with their term listings of custom taxonomy checked.
Or the parent of the child before their listing.

-----
Parent
-child
-child
-----

On wordpress codex, I've found this:

<?php
// get taxonomies terms links
function custom_taxonomies_terms_links(){
// get post by post id
$post = get_post( $post->ID );

// get post type by post
$post_type = $post->post_type;

// get post type taxonomies
$taxonomies = get_object_taxonomies( $post_type, 'objects' );

$out = array();
foreach ( $taxonomies as $taxonomy_slug => $taxonomy ){

// get the terms related to post
$terms = get_the_terms( $post->ID, $taxonomy_slug );

if ( !empty( $terms ) ) {
$out[] = "<h2>" . $taxonomy->label . "</h2>\n<ul>";
foreach ( $terms as $term ) {
$out[] =
' <li><a href="'
. get_term_link( $term->slug, $taxonomy_slug ) .'">'
. $term->name
. "</a></li>\n";
}
$out[] = "</ul>\n";
}
}

return implode('', $out );
}
?>

http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/get_the_terms

This works great, but it only lists terms with alphabetical order without any parent-child relations.
It would be great if you could help me,

Thank you very much

It's something like this ??
[[LINK href="http://sandbox.justoalblanco.com/products/iphone-4/"]]http://sandbox.justoalblanco.com/products/iphone-4/[[/LINK]]

function custom_taxonomies_terms_links()
{
// get post by post id
$post = get_post( $post->ID );

// get post type by post
$post_type = $post->post_type;

// get post type taxonomies
$taxonomies = get_object_taxonomies( $post_type, 'objects' );
$out = array();

foreach ( $taxonomies as $taxonomy_slug => $taxonomy ) {
// get the terms related to post
$terms = get_the_terms( $post->ID, $taxonomy_slug );

if ( !empty( $terms ) ) {
//var_dump($terms);

$out[] = "<h2>" . $taxonomy->label . "</h2>\n<ul>";

$buffer = array();

foreach ( $terms as $term ) {
if ( $term->parent < 1 ) {
$buffer[$term->term_id][0] = '<li><a href="'. get_term_link( $term->slug, $taxonomy_slug ) . '">'. $term->name . "</a></li>\n";
} else {
$buffer[$term->parent][$term->term_id] = ' <li> - - <a href="'. get_term_link( $term->slug, $taxonomy_slug ) . '">'. $term->name . "</a></li>\n";
}
}

ksort($buffer);

foreach ($buffer as $id => $items) {
ksort($items);

foreach ($items as $txt) {
$out[] = $txt;
}
}

$out[] = "</ul>\n";
}
}

return implode('', $out );
}

Its not an elegant solution by now, but just to get the idea.

Arnav Joy answers:

can you please give us any example , to make us understand more , what you want?

suntak comments:

Sorry for limited explanation... and also my English..

I'd like to show the taxonomy terms related to the post with parent-child relationships.

I have custom post types which are about shops, they have custom taxonomy called "commodity",
in the commodity, some commodities have parents.
But on the current code, I can only list them alphabetically without any parent-child relations.

<?php
// get taxonomies terms links
function custom_taxonomies_terms_links() {
global $post, $post_id;
// get post by post id
$post = &get_post($post->ID);
// get post type by post
$post_type = $post->post_type;
// get post type taxonomies

$taxonomies = get_object_taxonomies($post_type);
$out = "<ul>";

foreach ($taxonomies as $taxonomy) {

if($term->parent == 0){
$theterm = $term->slug;
}
unset($term);

$out .= "<li class='$taxonomy'>";
// get the terms related to post
$terms = get_the_terms( $post->ID, $taxonomy );
if ( !empty( $terms ) ) {
foreach ( $terms as $term )
$out .= '<a href="' .get_term_link($term->slug, $taxonomy) .'">'.$term->name.'</a> ';
}
$out .= "</li>";
}
$out .= "</ul>";
return $out;
} ?>

<?php echo custom_taxonomies_terms_links();?>

-Dramas

Books

etc..

Hope this makes sense.
Thank you very much for your help !
