Hi,
Its because of improper file permissions to wordpress folder or the folder owner permissions. Can fix this via teamviewer if you need.
Can you share teamviewer access to [email protected]
Orelse try this solution if you have SSH access
Connect to SSH
sudo nano /etc/hosts
This will open a file, and you will need to add the following code at the bottom of the file:
66.155.40.202 api.wordpress.org

what have you done to get this error?
If this is a wordpress update, it might be that your website has a slow connection to the wordpress repository...
you can try manual update.
and any case, that error is nothing to worry about.
you can try again later and see if that goes away.

I usually set up an automatic wordpress update, but the latest version has not been updated. The site is very slow and I have to solve this problem too.
Also I use Updraftplus for backup and I realized that it does not perform automatic backup for some time. When I do it manually there is a lot of time and it does not end.

if your website is getting slower... then maybe your website has not finished connecting to the wordpress repository, getting into connection timeout, and thus produces the error...
you might need to contact your hosting provider to check this issue..

Before passing to a higher level, try to delete the file called .maintenance, which is located in your WordPress directory. That should solve the problem. If not, let me know through a commente here, or respond on the Skype chat (I opened one).
